Awesome pick up Oak!

On the Marvel card topic, there is a brand new Marvel Masterpieces set due to come out at the end of June based on all new Joe Jusko paintings, supposedly multiple years in the making. There will be various hand drawn original Joe Jusko sketch cards that will be inserted. For people that really like Joe Jusko's art, it will be a chance to own an original piece of art from him.

Saw that mentioned. Certainly exciting. Just hope they don't ask some crazy price.

Thanks again, guys.

Very interesting on the new Masterpiece series. Sounds cool with the sketch cards. Other than Alex Ross and Clayton Crain, Joe Jusko is one of my favourite artists of the painted-style form. Hope the series does well.

Jusko's new painting for the set are very cool. He's posted some more on his FB page. Below are the sketch cards he did that will be inserted into boxes. I'm a sketch card collector for a couple old Transformers and Voltron sets and frequent some non-sports card forums just because it's fun to see the hype and different things that come out with different non-sports sets (much more exciting than sports cards now-a-days). There's definitely a lot of hype building for this set, so I'm curious to see the collector and market reaction when it goes live and people start breaking.

Always great when you see "sketches" in colour.

All this talk of chase/sketch cards made me look for the ones I have from the 1998 MCC series. Though they aren't Joe Juskos, I did manage to get a Silver Surfer by Ron Lim:

Very nice stuff! That MCC set was pretty popular if I remember right, a very good one to have some cool stuff from. It can get really addicting to collect sketch cards just because there's so many different ways in going about collecting styles, or artists, or sets, or characters, etc. It's pretty cool to have a hand made piece of art that is easy to store and display.

I'll definitely be checking it out just because it's part of the Marvel Netflix universe, but there wasn't anything too impressive about the first trailer, IMO.

The trailers for these are never really adequate. Aside from "Hey it's coming..."

Working on it. I need to get past the snake season, so I can downsize that and reclaim some of my office. Debating building some sort of oversized shelf system or just finding one. I also should do a stock of what I have. I think it's larger than I know.

I think that's the case with all us collectors (aka. Hoarders). We always have more than we actually know or remember.

I just know that these come in an out of print fairly quickly. I stalled at first and then just had a huge amount to catch up on, and even then a few slipped away into scalperdom. Much easier to pick them up on release, even if they just get stored away for later. A fair amount are still in their shrinkwrap.

My new obsession with comics is inter-company crossovers. They were plentiful in the '90s but have dwindled to very few and far between, and practically nil with any with DC and Marvel characters. I have bought many back in the day, but I couldn't afford the prestige format books that were $6 each (which was really steep). Starting to go back and pick those up starting with Hulk/Superman, Batman/Captain America, Superman/Silver Surfer and Green Lantern/Silver Surfer. The cost of shipping is killing me on these books.

I have never seen those. That would be cool to read
