6 years later and they are still in great shape! Awesome look!
and now that they look slightly beaten up, they look better!

Snow Camo :)

Important note:
These are awesome boots. Just be sure you don't get the temperate model. The sole is not stitched all the way around, just a portion of the toe area. The hot weather ones have the stitching all the way around the boot. The sole become unglued after a month or two of use.

When we completed RANGERS training, my unit and I were given these boots as part of our Spec.Forces gear. They are unrivaled in comfort and performance. I went out a few months later and bought the civilian ones (Night Camo). They are pretty close to the military version. Only problem with them is after a while the leather started sqeeking when i was walking. Aside from that..AWESOME GEAR!!

Comfort and uncompromised dexterity is important to a military operator under fire and this is exactly what the SI Boot provide. As an avid airsoft player, I use these boots in environments and situations they were designed for and they perform exceptionally well. During a whole day of skirmishing on various terrain and urban settings I don't have to worry about pain on my feet and focus on the mission and the 'opfors'. Compared to other boots, they feel like, forgive me Mr. Jannard, all-terrain Air Jordans and have phenomenal traction. On every scenario I've encountered that required silent movement, they never disappointed me so far especially on concrete and asphalt. But they do slip on wet tile. I remember almost falling on my back inside a KFC floor that was being mopped and quipping to my friend, 'That's $250 military hardware for you.' But I'll forgive that since most engagements don't happen inside a fastfood, unless perhaps you're SWAT on a bad day. The price tag may be justified by the performance and the privilege to wear authentic military gear made by your favorite company. It also makes posers think twice about parting from that much dough. They'll more likely to opt for Air Jordans instead.

I love these boots. I bought mine for $125 at the Cabazon O Store and they are one of my best buys yet. They are lightweight, comfortable to wear for hours on end and they offer very good traction on wet\icey days.

These boots aren't worth the cost. Unless you can get them at Gov't prices, don't get them. Sure, they are comfy and all, but durability SUCKS!! I wore my pair down in two months... the sole just came right off.

I'm pretty pissed. My Converse boots (yes, many are used in Iraq and Afghanistan by Special Forces- www.lightfighter.net) are lasting longer than these and I had 'em for almost a year!

Save your money for something else.

Oh, did I also mention it squeaks on wet surfaces like a horny mouse? Very un-tactical.

Shame, though. They do look nice. Then again, function over form.

Good support for outdoor tasks, hold your footing in mixed terrain well, but can slip on slick (not just wet) surfaces. Don't try in snow, you will have to dry them out.

But don't get me wrong. These are the most comfortable boot/shoe I have had. I haven't had them for that long, but it seems the bottoms wear out fairly quickly. While they are good for outdoor training, the look isn't what you get from normal boots. Too "shoey" to get away with in business casual dress environments. A good specialized boot for outdoor applications, with a virtually non-existent break-in period, and something you can comfortably wear for hours on end.

Extremely comfortable, hardly need breaking in.

They can be a pain to lace up - only criticism - but hey, that comes with boots. They provide plenty of support and look pretty cool. Nice one.

Love these things. Other than the Juliet, the SI Boot is probably Oakley's best current product IMO. They fit real well and is comfortable for long duration wear. The black version seems to get dirty real easily though and, as others have noted, doesn't work very well on wet surfaces or when wet in general. Hopefully they'll correct that with the next version of the boot. 4.5 out of 5 but rounded to 5.

i recently started wearing these , and i decided that when shop-opening-hours are long , i wear these. you simply don't get tired in these Boots !! comfort and support are A+ as far for style, you can't call them stylish. wearing those under jeans is okay as long as the jeans is boot-cut
grip outdoors is phenomenal, but when it rains , they get a little slippery

The boot looks great but I only hope the military have a better issue than the civilian one, I've been wearing a pair in black and have found them to be the most comfortable boot Ive owned apart from my "chuckies" however I think their wet capabilities could be better, any water under foot and they tend to aqua plane, and forget moving in icey conditions unless you wanna go straight down on your butt. A new sole design would probably help here, as they are you best not use them in the wet.... interested to hear how other folk find there performance in the wet.... still a great looking boot and very comfortable to wear for 16hrs at a time

These are the most comfortable boots I have ever owned. To me they feel just like high top runners. I can move just as fast as these as in my running shoes. The ankle support is very flexible. They are holding up under well under the Canadian winter and are quite warm. The only problem I have with these boots is that when you walk on smooth floors when they are wet they squeek. Also, make sure to put a leather protector on the boot. Overall, if you need boots that allow you to be fast on your feet and are comfortable as hell these are the boots for you.

first off ----i love the look of the boots 10 ---they are great ---and i enjoyed wearing them to work ----i bought a pair a year a go on ebay they were and stilll are the most comf. boot i had ever worn --i just got a new pair and they are brothering my right toe -----so i bought the wide version 9.5 because 10 was huge---and they feel bettter but their seams too much room when i walk or running===== and 10.5 seams to be tooo large long-- i tryed the galting and those fit perfect --but they are a different type of boot ...does anybody else have the same issue----????are they maiking them different ---or something ---does anybody have an idea ??????gus
UBERCHUCK -
I'm gonna go against the crowd on this one. I have worn my SI's on and off for about a year now. These have too much ankle support and it still feels like I'm still breaking them in. I still have the high-top Nail boot and it is much more comfortable. It's hard to get them to lace up just right as my left foot frequently moves around in the boot a little. I am planning to purchase the new SI shoe when it comes out despite of what I'm saying here. I really like certain features about the boot but the ankle support drives me nuts when I'm walking a lot. Considering what I paid 180 for these on ebay I'm giving them a three. I'd love to hear from someone if they have had a similar issue.

Now, I only got to try these on in the store, so my review probably won't mean as much as some of these guys who actually own a pair. But having said that, I was amazed at how comfortable these were just hopping around the store. They fit as comfortably as a good pair of hiking boots and probably would work just as well.

The boots for me! The rubber soles grip excellent to all kinds of surfaces. I abuse them a lot and they still look great.
The best boots I've ever owned.
LUSCIOUS -
Amazing footwear. For something so bulky, and for an army boot, these bad boys are nothing like what they look like from the outside. Recommended for everyone.
Downsides: vulcanize rubber sole, eventhough very good, doesn't last as long. Also, the tongue is stitched by the ankle, making it a little difficult to slip into sometimes.
Incase of fire, at least you know your shoe laces will be fine!!!
Michael -
Wore them for my last OIF rotation. They're great, the lacing doesn't put too much pressure on the tops of my foot, which is great for people with bulky feet.

These, incredibly, are what hooked me on oakley. I saw them in a catalouge at my optometrists office and had to have them. I agree with everyone else in saying that these are very comfy for your feet. I've done military field training in these and can say that they proform far beyond what even the oakley adds claim.

What can i say about these boots that everyone else hasn't already said. Super light, probobly the most comfortable things I have ever put on my feet. You slip a little bit when walking on tile or wood with wet feet, but other than that these boots are the best footwear on the market.

Had to have these to match my Thumps....10 stars all the way! My second pair of SI boots - not that I have even come close to wearing out my first pair!

what can i say? the S.I. Assault Boots are legendary. they're ultra comfortable and lightweight, and offer great ankle support and thick padding all around the boot. best of all they needed absolutely no break-in time unlike other boots. the overall design is unmistakably Oakley, which is to say they're very nice. the only gripe i can come up with is the lack of reinforced eyelets.

I've the boots everywhere and anywhere for about 6 months. Initial fit was excellent and break in was very short. Lightweight, tough and comfortable in a wide range of temperatures. Good traction in mud, rock, sand and loose gravel. Not waterproof, but dries quickly. Take caution when walking across smooth surfaces with lubricant spills (petrol, jet fuel, hydro etc.). After a few months of constant wear, tread has been noticibly worn down, but traction still agressive. Bought a pair of black for non duty use. Best boots I've owned.

Can't speak high enough about these boots - 10 stars. Awesome everyday and in they gym. Bought them the day they became available from Oakley.com and am getting ready to add the night camo's to match my thumps!

These are so comfortable and yet you can tell they're a really tough, hard wearing boot as well. I've got a feeling there are going to be a couple more pairs of these gracing my shoe rack soon...

these boots are absolutely amazing. ive had mine for a few years now and the bottoms are starting to look worn, but they are still the most comfortable thing ive ever put on my feet.

I bought them off of eBay and saved $96 bucks. Having owned them now, I would pay the very high full price if I couldn't get them on eBay. They are as comfortable if not more than any major brand athletic shoe. They're very durable too. I wear them everyday. I just purchased the SI shoe. I will use them at work.

Buy them, now.

More comfy than a lot of sneakers, lightweight, quick drying, I've worn mine for work on muddy sites, road running, mountain biking, hiking and chucked em in the washer to rinse in cool clear water and they come out good as new. they look good with jeans (desert) or the black ones with whatever, looking all over for snow and night camos, gotta catch em all!

Buy them now.

Color: Snow Camo
The local Comor (probably closest thing to an O-store we have here when it comes to apparel) only had the Snow Camo and Black in stock, so I decided to go for the Snow Camo; seeing that it is no longer available on the oakley website. Despite my initial impressions of the boot from various pics on the net (I always thought the boots would be very heavy and stiff), trying them on I found they were in fact the very opposite; fairly lightweight and softer/more comfortable than I thought. Right now I am too paranoid to wear them outside (my last pair Nike Jordans only lasted about a week in "prestine" condition), but will probably have to when the snow starts pouring here in the north ;).

Can I give these boots 10 stars?

I was looking at these boots online for months but the price was hefty and seeing as I'd probably be ordering online I didn't want to spend so much and have them be uncomfortable when they arrived. I'm glad I just went ahead and bought them though. These boots are incredible. Trying not to wear them as I want them to last along time but they're warn pretty much constantly as they're extremely comfortable and versatile.

The vulcanized rubber at the toe and back seems to be very tough and after more than 6 months of constant use have yet to show any marks. The soles have warn a little in the middle but nothing to worry about. I polish these at least once or twice a month to keep the leather in top condition. I'll say it again, these boots are awesome, when mine finally die I'll be back on eBay to buy more.

I bought a pair after having them offered to me for $125 – an offer too good to pass up. They by far the best boot I have ever worn, due to their light weight construction and sole that allows more mobility than other boots, and maintains a high degree of support and cushioning. Among other things, I have played paintball with these boots several times, they allowed the same running ability as if I was wearing sneakers, while having the protection of boots – something necessary when going through thick woods. In short, if you are looking for a comfortable, lightweight boot and can spare the cash, these are for you.

These have been on my wish list for a long time, and I finally broke down and got them. I'm glad I did. They are the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn, let alone boots. They were designed for service use, so you know they wouldn't accept anything that couldn't be used for hours on end, in any given situation. Whether it's summer or winter, they will work perfectly. The rubber soles grip to wet surfaces and the shoe itself has room to breathe. I highly recommend these boots to pretty much anyone.
