I still cannot believe they got rid of the elite icons.

they don't look right.... the look cheap and..... well Fandagoish!

I think it's the lack of Icon ontop of the titanium, the small plates top and bottom of the Icon now just look like an after thought. Seeing them in the flesh will be the real decider, but currently it isn't to positive in my mind.

I do agree with Travis and Mike regarding no elite icons, and looking cheaper, however I am sure they will look better in the flesh, but with the even higher price point I think those who already have the original PB will give these a miss.

Thank you Dann for the direct video, what do you think about the new Pit Boss??
I see you very quiet about the discussion, and i like opinions for an expert like you.

Thanks!!!

I'm probably one of the few that really likes the PB2. I'll be getting one eventually. An Elite icon would've been cool, but for some reason I'm not too fussed about it. One of the prototype pairs of PB1 that JJ wears has a regular elipse icon. Good enough for JJ, good enough for me.

I posted my thoughts in another thread, but Personally I like it if I had no other knowledge. Price is the main issue but that was true with the original. I think I like the style on this better and it could have been a bigger hit had they brought it down to the price point of a Factory Lite. Justified the lack of elite status and maybe sacrificed the presentation vault.

Maybe they should have called it the PitCrew.... as they are the lesser of the PitBoss

my only positive is that its polished rootbeer rather than matte and the plates look more like a polished gold so at least they arent identical to the original that i already have.

I really like them as well. The ELITE icon is awesome. So that not being a part of it is a little disappointing. As it was mentioned it seems as if they're moving away from the ELITE line. So there may not be an ELITE icon to put on anything at this point. It kind of doesn't exist.

I'll be getting a pair at some point.

Cool comparison, Dann. I have to say overall Oakley did a great job with the aesthetics of PBII IMO. They kept the original look, but also made a few modifications to differentiate them. It's a very delicate balance when using the same name for another pair of sunglasses. Just look at Romeo II, for example...

My two biggest concerns, however (besides the ridiculous pricepoint as aforementioned), are:

1) The colorways - they're almost identical to the original PB - all three of them. If you're going to reintroduce a product, please give us something more (i.e., polarized ice or polarized +red), not just the same colorways available in the original product.

2) The size - these glasses will undoubtedbly be the same size as the original PB, which were too large for my noggin. I typically only purchase Oakleys that I can wear (despite the fact that 99%+ of my collection is display only - at least for the time being), but made an exception for the PB because they were "Elite" and I really appreciated their aesthetics. It is doubtful that I will attempt to collect all the upcoming releases (again) knowing that I will never be able to wear them if I really want to, due to their oversized orbitals.

Really, what would have been so bad about Oakley downsizing the oribitals for PBII to, say, the size of X-Squared? I think it would have generated far more interest in their product as it would have enabled a much larger demographic to wear them.

Not everyone has a King-Kong sized head, Oakley...

I'm on the flip side of Size... I don't like them to small aka: X-Squared and love the size of the PB. One of the reasons i love them so much.

There are many frames out there i love but wouldn't wear because they are 2 small.
it falls back to: Your damed if you do your damed if you don't.

IF you wear radars Terror, i don't see how the PB can look so big on you, is it more the fit.

Hi! I have a doubt, Pit Boss II continue still in Elite family? Or Other family?

Thanks!!!!!

Up to debate. I'm sure many would insist that they aren't , but despite the lack of hex icons, they cost the same, still have the presentation box and are made from the same materials. Had they been non polarized and the plates were C5 like the Why 3 vs Why 8.x, then there may be more reason top change it's category. It wouldn't be the first time that something was categorized in a confusing way, what with jackets and frogskins and the like. My vote is still elite and for lack of a better choice, I'll leave it in the database that way. My $0.02.

But the first Pit boss, Oakley said they selling limited quantities i don't like they launched other version so similar than the first edition, subtraction a lot exclusivity at the first Pit Boss

You know if the presentation box still have the Elite Icon?

Nope, the presentation box has the elliptical O on it. No signs of the elite-line anywhere...

Checked to see how Oakley.com classifies it, but they dodged the issue by putting it in the Polarized listing only.

I just can't see how this passes as a PBII without the Elite icon...fail

They seem to be classifying it under their "Iconic Collection" line. Not sure if they're taking that line anywhere or if it ends with PB2.

yeah, I would have thought that if your going to make a version 2 of something, try and make it better, try and improve on the original rather than going backwards. This version should have been called something else as other have also said. Just my 2 cents...

Sorry, but i'm a little lost, what that means 2 cents?
I read two times in two diferents opinions.
Thanks!

Other thing, with the new launch of the PBII, here in my city the "sunglass hut stores" have the pit boss 1 with 50% discount. A good chance for buy one pair.

'2 cents' generally means that you're stating your opinion, but acknowledge that it may or may not be the common agreement.
