It's policy. No Oakley eyewear allowed beyond company doors.

Actually the assmebly workers had Radars, but with the icons taken out. All guests must remove theirs though.

Hey Dann,

Do you, somewhere, have a list of Oakley employee policies/rules/conduct? What you've said seems really interesting.

Nothing official, I just herd these requirements by taking the tour. No sandals either, but that's a safety concern.

Killswitch. I'll let someone else elaborate on that.

In response to the Luxottica 60 min video posted earlier by Mike there are a lot of things that are not true. The comments made about how Luxottica bought Oakley like it was a hostel take over is not true Jim had other interests he wanted to pursue (RED). They also failed to mention that Oakley sewed them more then once for patent infringement and won. Being in the optical industry myself i also find it hard to believe that Ray Band is the biggest seller as well.

Jim was the primary stockholder. A hostel takeover wouldn't have been possible. The investment in RED was probably a smarter choice for him given the adoption of digital vs film in recent years.

The whole battle with SGH over the years sort of gets forgotten. They even messed with the X-Metal release back in the 90's due to conflicts.

I also heard threw the industry that he's on luxotticas board. Have you heard anything like that?

Haven't, but perhaps there's a slot for him even if he's not as active. Just a guess on my part.

He isn't on Lux's board. His focus is on RED. While Lux has an influence on some of the products' distribution, outsourcing, and manufacturing, Oakley has attested, several times in correspondence internally and with customers, that they govern themselves.

Colin Baden, current CEO of Oakley, more than likely attends Lux's board meetings.

Wonder how this would work with someone wearing Oakley prescription glasses, like me?

I'd imagine that'd be ok as they don't just happen to have that exact model with that exact prescription lying around waiting to be nicked

So apparently the Rendering did end up being the Carbon Blade

The drawing we first saw gave great possibilities. The final product is ok. Can't see this being too popular within collectors circles, but I'll probably get the Ferrari version eventually. It's exciting to see a full CF frame without it being at an extreme pricepoint, though

The OO Red and Ice look promising. The Ferrari one isn't my thing.

I'm already looking towards next winter and am excited ;) !

But that Carbon plate is a slight miss if you ask me. What's that behind it again? inquonito or something? Can't find it anywhere and I've forgotten the name ;(

I'm waiting for better images of CB. I agree with Oak on the pricepoint.

Enduro, I think. There's a pic of SW wearing one in the New Releases thread.
