Has anyone considered adding Safehouse editions for things like M Frames, Radar/XL, Radarlock/XL, Fast Jackets, and Jaw Breakers/Racing Jackets?

I know there are some inherent issues, like no model numbers and they can be totally customized, but it would be cool to have some reference of what was available for collectors like myself going after Safehouse versions. Maybe the frame colors could be noted, rather than frame color and lens.

This is an interesting idea; as a collectors site, it makes sense to have it catalogued somehow, and I am sure there is more than one way to accomplish it. But for it to work the way you are suggesting, we would at least need to start with something like a catalog or a rep list (something verifiably legit) that details these options, otherwise we would be just shooting in the dark or taking someone's word for it.

I am sure the individual frames have their own SKUs - the OCP frames have their own SKUs, so these probably do as well. The trouble is getting ahold of them in a way so as to verify their association with the particular color. And that sounds like it would be a beast of a project if you have nothing to start with. There were at least a dozen frame colors per model, right?

On the other hand, if such a list did exist, then it would be much easier to tackle. If I were to do it, I would add Safehouse as a wholly separate model entry (i.e. Radar Pitch, Radar Path, Radar EV, Radarlock, Radar XL, Radar Safehouse). This way it wouldn't disrupt the ebb and flow of all the other entries. Pics would be critical, despite many entries not having them they still languish without them and prove half useful. But an SKU would be vital.

Wonder what the rest of the group would think about this.

Exactly. Many times we are based on the Guru's expertise to know if some frames are a safehouse or not.

Thanks cmunozh! That's what I have seen too. There is also another collector that isn't on OF that I have picked some up from that I might be able to get some info from.

The additional info we'd need is what models beyond M Frame, Radar/XL, RadarLock/XL, Jawbones/Racing Jackets, and Fast Jackets, and if anyone knows any specific colors they were available in.

When I have some time, I'll work on starting a post on OF to see if we can collect some of this info and then maybe get the database entries started here.

I can certainly get something into the DB, but as mentioned, perhaps it's best to make them their own models, sort of like how I separated the Petterson Frogskin just to ease up on the clutter.

I’ve passed on several pairs on EBay over the years because I couldn’t nail down info and colorways. It would be great to have info on this:)

As far as I know, no m frame was available at the SH.

About the colour, we can make them up and link them to the Tube Line, for example "Pink - Hammerstmith & City Line" or "Infrared - Central Line"

I would be happy to help in OF about with that post.

I recap was as well another Safehouse at Kona for the Kona Ironman. I had back then a pair of Flak 2.0 built there (according to the girl to sold me the pair). I don't have them anymore as they were a present :-(

From an Olympic standpoint, Safehouses were an Oakley venue they created for the athletes to go to outside of the Olympic Village where they can relax, mingle, eat/drink, and celebrate. It was a safe space for them to get away to. I believe they go back as far as Sydney, AUS in 2000. I have a keychain that says "Safe House" and has two phone numbers on one side, and the shape of AUS with an Oakley logo, and "Games '00" inside on the other. I'm sure Steve Blick was there handing out glasses to athletes.

At later Olympics, maybe as early as Vancouver, CAN in 2010, while athletes were there, they could just happen to get some special glasses made up in a wide range of colors. What made them different from OCP is that they were matte colors. They are also limited in the number of Oakley logos that can be on them, so for example, Fast Jackets, don't have the Oakley across the bridge. For Radar/XL, RadarLock/XL, and M Frames, the lenses did not include the Oakley logo. I don't think any of the Polarized lenses included the note on the bottom corner of the lens.

That I know of, I believe the following models were included
M Frames - limited - I've only seen a few examples, don't personally own any
Radar/Radar XL - Most common - have multiple in regular and straight stems
RadarLock/RadarLock XL - Most common - have multiple pair
Jawbones - limited - don't personally own any, but I see them in collections
Fast Jackets - Common - I own a few pair

There might be other models out there, but I believe these cover it.

For the 2012 Olympics in London, the colors were made to match up to the London Tube System. Starting at Sochi, Oakley started to step away from these SafeHouse edition glasses. Limited models were available in Sochi Green, but they were athlete exclusives. Brazil went went with the Green Fade, and began the trend of the colors being available to consumers. Harmony Fade was used for Korea, and then Kokuro Spin for Tokyo. I haven't heard anything yet about anything special for China coming up later this year.

I just have no words. super post :-)

I thought SH were inside the Olympic village but thanks for the heads up :-). I agree with your list of models despite I haven't seen any m frame SH.

Two more cents, I thought for Tokyo was de "Tokyo celebration" but due to the cancellation, they did the Kokoro. the China model is like an Odyssey ed. but with icons/stems in red.

How did the SH editions before London look like??

Thanks cmunozh! I've seent that one and used a good bit of info from it, and a bunch of other posts, articles, and videos I found in my research. I am also reaching out to a few former Oakley employees to see if I can get any info from them.

Here is the post on Oakley Forum. More info to come once we nail down more of the details.

https://www.oakleyforum.com/threads/safe-house-knowledge-base.127629/

I'm thinking we just call them Safe Houe , and we can lump in various colors from Vancouver, London, and the Sochi Green. It will be more work, but for Radars, I'm thinking it should be broken out by Regular and XL, and regular and straight lenses, so 4 total entries.

So, here are the colors that we can do for the Safe House editions.

A - Powder Blue - Munich
B - Infrared - Central
C - Pale Pink - Hammersmtih & City
D - Dark Pink - Metropolitan
E - Dark Green - District
F - Blue - Victoria
G - Dark Grey - Jubillee
H - Light Yellow - Circle
I - Celeste - Waterloo & City

1 - Black - Northern
2 - Light Grey - Munich
3 - Retina Burn - Munich
4 - Spring Green - London Tramlink
5 - Chalk White - Munich
6 - Dark Yellow - Bakerloo
7 - Blood Orange - London Overground
8 - Dark Navy - Piccadilly
9 - Neon Pink - Munich

The items listed after the color are the corresponding London Underground line. If it says Munich, it came from the Munich 1972 Olympic posters. See the OF link for more info there.

For the models, I'll let you decide how granular you want to do it.
Radar
Radar Straight Stem
Radar XL
Radar XL Straight Stem
Radarlock
Radarlock XL
Racing Jackets
Fast Jackets

If you want, feel free to add Sochi Green to at least the Radarlock, Radarlock XL and Racing Jackets.

The next item is pics. If I can start to collect pictures from various members of each model in the various colors, does that work?

Those are all of the models and colors that I know about for now. I'll keep you updated if I hear of anything else.
