Apparently the skydiving goggles in Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One is an Oakley creation, even though there’s no consumer release. If anyone is at HQ, please do takes pics of it.

OAKLEY® DESIGNS GROUNDBREAKING SOLUTIONS TO IMPOSSIBLE CHALLENGES
Thursday, July 6, 2023 — Defying limitations. Creating extraordinary moments. Reshaping the culture. It’s how many would describe the legendary role of Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt in the upcoming Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One. It’s also how you could tell the story of Oakley® becoming the world’s premiere choice for performance eyewear.

The mission here was clear: Oakley and Cruise were to design and produce the perfect eyewear for his character, Ethan Hunt, ahead of one of the most dangerous stunts seen in the franchise . The result is the ECLP23 which features High Speed Protection, expanded field of view and Zero Gravity making sure the eyewear was custom fit for his face, leaving no room for chance in this historic moment in the Mission franchise.

The one-of-a-kind prototype eyewear behind the logic defying stuntwork in the film, ECLP23 will be available to see at the Oakley Headquarters at One Icon this summer.

For more information about Oakley, please visit Oakley.com and follow @Oakley and see Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One in theaters July 12, 2023.

Looks like a really cut down wind jacket 2.0 with no arms

I wondered about this when they started showing stuff from the set long ago. It's like a stretched Wind Jacket 2.0 and Alpha goggle meets a sky diving goggle. I am curious if any other custom or potential future release Oakley creations will be seen in the movie.

When I first studied the trailers and pictures, I had no idea Oakley was involved. It was such a simple design. I thought they just pulled a pair of Kroops for props. Not sure exactly what they needed to design exactly. Hopefully they'll educate us soon.

I think they would have for any other actor, but with it needing to be functional for him to do the stunt and not an off the shelf item was the difference. If they had the same prop master for Ghost Protocol with the Wind Jacket it would have made it easy choice.

For sure. I just mean I thought Oakley would’ve wanted to add some of their visual flair rather than produce something that looks like a Kroop’s-like goggle (or any other generic goggle with a small rope retainer). One that is molded specifically for TC’s face, sure, but something that is visually indistinguishable from any other sky diving brand nevertheless. A missed opportunity in a big blockbuster. I’m sure there’re good reasons for it, but imagine a Kato-like skydiving goggle. Oakley could’ve launched a new eyewear segment after an intro like that.

David Cheesman is the prop master on this one; Kris Peck was the prop master on GP.

I think so too it would have been more exciting if the nose was designed like Kato

Turns out there are two versions of the goggle. One with the hook for the retention rope like in the official Oakley renders, and one with standard holes in the lens (which also has venting holes and appears to have a frame around the lens). Not quite clear if both are Oakley or not, or if both appear onscreen. Maybe one for stunts and one for closeups.

This was in a promo video:

Project Scorpio was a better name. JS.

This version has a hole in the lens and looks like it has something like the oakley logo on either side.
