Time to reborn this thread.
That's bad that most of the old pics were lost :-(

Yeah, I'll have to either refind those pictures or just shoot some new ones. I took some others with the lens I got last spring:

Let the guessing game begin:

do you have one of the lens light rings Dann?
Dann

It's the dual flash rather than the ring light. I lets me angle the two independently rather than a solid light on the front of the lens. It's the MT-24EX if you're looking into it.

cool. I would have to chunk down the cash for a "real" macro lens first...the macro function on my first try at 2nd lens, a sigma, is not impressive by any means. It proved you get what you pay for, and their customer service was hands down CRAP! I thought it would be cool to try out a long range macro so I could be farther from the subject, but what I got was a hunk of junk that locks into what they refer to as "macro mode" which is just a locking switch to put you in the 200mm - 300mm range...The problem is, it won't unlock 80% of the time, so I don't even put the lens on the camera. I need to just dump it and the kit lens mine came with and put it towards paying the tax on a real lens...HAHA...

Canon 100mm f/2.8 Macro is the best bet for the money. Sigma 150 or 180 f/3.5 are great for the long distance. Adorama refurbished right now has a Canon 180mm f/3.5 for only a bit more than the Sigma (usually it's a $500 difference). If you get the 180's, the twin light won't fit on it without an adaptor, but I usually use natural light with that anyway. It will fit on the 60mm or 100mm macro's.

Then there's the MP-E 65mm, which does the 1x-5x macro, but that's another beast.

Fun times

What a monster !

Do you try to balance some kind of complex you would have on something else ... you know, like guys with highly horsepowered cars.

Sorry, just kidding :-P hahaha

Here is the best I can do with my camera (Panasonic Lumix FZ18)and the Raynox DCR 250 lens. This is the O logo that is on the HQ engraved on the Penny X-Metal Coin

Trust Dann to have a creepy camera. It looks like some "tool" from that movie Seven. The most amazing part of it is that it can take a photo of itself!

Gorgeous. Love the angle - it shows the depth and curve of the engraving really well.

Great shot! I realized after a while that would be a perfect candidate for one of those up close "guess what this is" shots. Anyone not familiar with Oakley subs would have very little chance of guessing what that is a photograph of, let alone even reading the two etched characters.
