It's like this: You only get one chance to make a first impression...So consider this: How many people do you think, just off of word of mouth, hearing the name Minute Machine will consider pursuing more information on the watch? Now, if someone sees the watch, handles the watch, and likes it, that's different...It just doesn't have that POP that demands attention. That's like painting their NHRA Funny Car Pink and putting flowers all over it. Might as well name that the second machine since it's only good for under 5 seconds?? That is just my persepctive on how it works. Marketing is an art form, you either hit it, or you don't. If they keep that name, which I highly doubt they will since it has undergone a few changes in it's less than 1 year life so far, they better do some better visual marketing and get the exposure with the look and gorgeous style of the watch. Leave it without a name, bring some mystery to it, make people want to know more. Here's a question, just based on name, no visual, how many people do you think will come chasing, without any knowledge of the watch, will come to inquire about a Diamond Minute Machine? Just an after thought. Certainly not a flame or rant, just valid concern. I too will stick with Time Tank since I never asscoiated it with Cartier (mainly because Tank is a shape in watches and not a name).
Ollie is dead on with is analagy. Do you think they would have many people trying to buy a Ford Cobra if it didn't have that name to go with the look? How about the Viper? The name needs to be appropriate. When you hear Cobra what do you think? Not some flashed up Mustang, no, you think of Carrol Shelby and his awesome Cobra. Too bad Tag already has the Alter Ego pinned down (and too bad it's a woman's watch)...
