I'm not a car expert by any means, and my choice isn't exactly on your list so you may disregard it...

But from what I've heard, there are very few cars that can offer more than the Corvette when considering performance vs price. Those Cadillacs you're lookin' at seem sweet, but if I had that kind of ca$h my money would be on a Z06.

yeah, the Z06 is a solid performer, and the ZR1 is going to put a big dent in the super car market...That will be a thing of beauty...

Rick, I will give you input on a couple of them, My wife has a 07 H3 limited tactical edition(victory Red with all blacked out trim including wheels) we drove the alpha too and it kicks ass, but the mileage does suck in it! The inline 5 is no rocket ship but it has plenty of get up and go and she gets around 20-22 mpg on the highway. Killer truck and good price, way better than any of the dodge or jeep products in the midsize catagory for sure. Second of all and the piece I would recommend is a loaded AWD Trailblazer SS! They are sick as hell, they ride and sound great! Straight Ballsy from the factory and you can add some more easy ponies under the hood too! Most of them are 2WD so that is something that you would want to make sure you get being in Canada(AWD). You can get leather, roof, nav, heated seats etc. for in the high 30's new or high 20's with a few miles on a used. Good Luck on the search!!

The H3 is basically a glorified Colorado, which I had. I can say in a truck form, the Z71 variant which is what mine was, kicked ass. I jumped it several times, and it took every bit I could throw at it. The I5 engine is decent. It did get about that in mileage as Brent said, and I threw a K&N filtercharger system on it and it helped it out a bit. Loud as hell though, but I liked it. Now, you can chip them, and do a few other things, and they do well. One thing that surprised me, was how quite it was inside. Totally unexpected for a truck. On the flipside, my Silverado 5.3l v8 got the same to better economy than the I5...

Thank you gentlemen. The Z06 is awesome! I loved watching a clip on Youtube of it tearing the ass out of a Ferrari in pretty much every category except the turning circle. Thing is, it didn't even make my Top 40 since it cannot be driven in the winter. Calgary does have approx. 8 months of winter. Perhaps, one day I can have a third car reserved for the few days of summer we actually get!

I threw the Hummer H3 into the mix because I thought it gives my list a bit of flavor. My mother-in-law has the 5 cyl version and it is just a fun truck to drive. The Alpha gives it more giddy-up. I'm pretty sure any of these rides could end up on my driveway, but I've always been partial to the V8 sedans since my Dad has been in Real Estate since I was born so I was raised on Cadillacs, Lincoln, Park Avenues, etc...you could say it's in my blood.

The SRT8's are on the top of the list for a variety of factors. Lots to choose from, lots of power, and they hold a certain amount of prestige in Calgary. They are also cheap to buy slightly used and I'm thinking for $32k USD I can be in a current model year with low mileage. I am also heavily leaning towards a Caddy STS-V. But, that is going to cost me more. Like I said before, I'll flip flop many times, but this is probably more fun for me than actually owning any of them!

My buddies in Calgary are telling me the H3 is everywhere and the Trailblazer SS sucks in the snow. I'll be putting winter wheels and tires on pretty much any of these so I'm not too worried about it, but apparently the SS ain't cut out for Canadian winters.

In any case, I will be sure to listen to what you guys have to say and I do appreciate the feedback.

I've had the SS out in snow...it's one of the better ones I've driven. It makes me think they're not dealing with the AWD SS.

you gotta remember that the AWD in the SS is not like regular 4 hi, it is I believe a 60/40 split. I have a GMC Typhoon and GMC Syclone and they are set up the same way. Fun to drive but doesn't do all that well in a lot of snow. I would also say about 80% of the SS's out there are 2WD, that percentage might even be higher than that.

Well, I sure love the concept of the SS and could very well see myself driving one. I'll have to talk to a few owners once I'm back in Calgary to find out how they cope with the weather, but anything on the list is a possibility at this point. By the way Brent, I have always loved thy Typhoon and the Cyclone! Those are very well kept secrets in the automotive world.

Rick I think you know the answer to this quest of yours- SRT8!!!! GCSRT-8 is AWD AND 425hp. Runs 0-60 times at 3.7 sec CONSISTENTLY in wet and dry. But the Magnum is all style!

Ah Nik, there is something about those SRT8's that touches me on such a deep and spiritual level. The reason they top the list at present. The GCSRT8 almost made the list, but I want to have the option if I buy a SUV to pull a trailer. Those massive exhaust pipes on the back of the GC make that impossible. I love your car man!

4.88 seconds to 60 in a fucking wagon!!! Mopar or no car! Just the fact it has the ability to measure it's 0-60 times is reason enough to own a couple!

Brent and David - where do I put your votes???

Or maybe the ultimate solution ...

Buy one of these dream car :

Corvette Z06? Good car for quarter miling. Not bad on a track but hit a bump and you've got problems. Hit a bump on a corner and you'll be picking bits of tree out of your car (or, more probably, somebody else will be picking bits of your car and you out out of a tree).

Want a fast wagon with 4wd and a proven ability to stand up to abuse? Get a Saab 92 and have Litchfield work on it: 415bhp, a power/weight ratio better than a Porsche 997 Turbo and 0-60mph in under 4 seconds.

I WANT one of the 11 cars I have listed! LOL Now that I think of it, I don't think they sell Saabs in Calgary. The two "a's" confused too many people I think!

My vote is for the 08 Dodge Nitro R/T AWD. Mostly because I like things that look different. I love the chargers, but around here they are starting to get like mustangs, everyone has one.

Alright, I'll put Marcel down for the SRT8 Charger and Defender for the Nitro.

The 300's are very popular in Calgary but only a very small percentage are the SRT8 model. Chargers are less popular but you still see them, but again, the SRT8 models are hard to come by. I like the idea of being King of the Hill in that regard. Part of the reason the SRT8's are rare is that they come loaded for almost $60K CDN! Compare that to low-$40k's in the States.

Rick, they actually make a tow package option for the srt grand cherokee now, they look a lot nicer without them, but if u like the jeep and need to tow something its always an option

Yeah, I kind of figured that Nate. With Heather driving a Cherokee, I think it would be a little redundant if I had one too. It did make the Top 20 or so, but not the final 10. Thanks for the info though. The chances of me actually pulling something, other than my groin, are pretty slim.

So Nate, if you had to choose from my list - what would you go for?
