I know there has been some mention of video game fans on the forum every so often, but they're few and far between, so I'm starting a new thread.

How many of you are video game fans? I used to be a video game fan when I was about 14 or 15 but gave it up, returned when I got a PS2 and then left soon after. I received a PS3 for Christmas, and now I'm back. Kinda. I can't say I play every day--or every week for that matter--but I'm now officially interesting in gaming.

So, what're you're favourite games, what are you looking forward to, and what are you playing now?

I just bought Devil May Cry 4 on Friday and have just started playing it. Man, what I cool game. I can't wait for Metal Gear Solid 4 to see how they take advantage of the PS3's capabilities.

I'm a big Sega fan.... well, not THAT big. The only console I have is a Sega Dreamcast (someone here can remember? The console that was WAAAAY better than the ps2 but lost the fight after.... euhm.... maybe a year? or two?). I have very, very much games and some pretty strange controllers for it (a fishing rod, a dancing mat, maracas, a heavy arcade controller, a keyboard + mouse, 2 wheels with pedals, 8 usual controllers). At the moment I'm playing Samba di Amigo 2000 and Feet of Fury again, I just got through Demolition Racer (again) and the next game to play is ShenMue 1&2.

Btw... is there anybody out there that knows what I'm talking about?

I know what you're talking about.

I've got a Wii myself and love the shooting games. So far I've worked my way throught Medal of Honor Vanguard and Resident Evil 4. I've almost finished Call of Duty 3 but the controller problems are such a pain in the butt that half the time I just stop playing and get stuck into Vanguard instead. I spent the weekend playing Medal of Honor Heroes 2 and will be finishing that off tonight. Next on the list will be Metroid Prime 3 and then Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicals.

What I really want is a decent pistol controller. I bought a Wii Zapper but the only use for that thing is to beat to death the idiot who designed it. I want a proper light gun with easy access to all the 11 buttons on the Wii-mote, not just the B button! All that people sell are the crappy plastic shells to put a Wii-mote in; that's just never going to work right!

More Nintendo Wiis are arriving at stores in anticipation of the Super Smash Bros. Brawl release on a few days. They had 8 Wiis at a certain location I was at, and I bought one on a whim. 15 minutes later, the rest were sold. Nintendo's back.

I recommend the console to everyone. Its innovative gameplay is so much fun. It's pretty much a kiddy gaming system compared to the PS3 or Xbox360, but it's more fun with the way the controls work.

NES, SNES, GameCube, Wii, Dreamcast, Xbox, Xbox 360 Elite, PS2, PS3, GameBoy Advance SP, and PSP are all in the lineup here... although many of these systems rarely see any use. I must say, though, that the PS3 is an incredible system overall, especially given the built-in blu-ray player. The uncompressed audio on blu-ray movies is just INSANE... I used to think that Dolby 5.1 was great, but not anymore!

And yes, I think MGS4 is really going to show off the power of the PS3 in more ways than one.

If anyone ever wants to play with me online on PS3, my username is the same. Just send me a message or friend invite. I love to play Resistance: Fall of Man online.

I have just discovered the world of online gaming thanks to the PS3 and Wii. Man, is it ever crazy cool. I've been missing out. Normally I'm not a fan of racing games, but it got a hell of a lot more interesting after being able to race other people at any time of day. Right now, Motor Storm is one of my favourite games.

Haven't played alot, but I love the games in the following order:

1) Super Mario Galaxy. So much fun.
2) No More Heroes - Surprisingly violent for something as family-oriented as the Wii. It's more in the vein of the Grand Theft Auto series
3) Super Smash Bros. Brawl. A lot of fun if you're playing online or with friends. It's pretty boring playing alone.
4) Metroid Prime 3 - Like Super Mario Galaxy, it's just a fun game.
5) Wii Sports - First game I played. Very innovated.
6) Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess - I haven't played this yet, but I've heard good things about it. It's next on my list.

As far as the Wii goes, Resident Evil 4 is excellent. Medal of Honour: Heroes 2 is pretty good but I prefer its predecessor, Medal of Honour Vanguard for one person play (Heroes 2 has the online play). The graphics on Vanguard are much worse but the controls are far far better.

Avoid Call of Duty 3, terrible controls and graphics and the game keeps locking up while you play.

Everyone should get a PS3 and play Metal Gear Solid 4. It is one of the best games I've ever come across. A lot of cutscenes, but really cool nevertheless.

Agreed that PS3 is awefully cool. Picked it up a month or so ago, mostly as a blu ray player. But have picked up a few choice games to play when I have the chance, and have been nothing but impressed so far (Assasins Creed, GTA4, Ratchet, Call of Duty ... also picked up a couple games just for online fun: Warhawk and Resistence-Fall of Man).

The online gaming as been pretty fun and pretty much as I expected: die often and humiliate myself as I mosey along the learning curve.

Even more exciting is my SVS subwoofer arrived today. Can't wait to haul that thing home and set it up.

I got a wii for my birthday and I have just lately started playing it. I got wii fit as well what is a lot of fun. I don't think it would do much for you, unless you are like me who has no upper body strength. I do recommend Wii fit though because it kind of gets you in the mood to exercise.

I finally built a new computer and have been able to play the latest games. I started with Half-life 2 and the Espisodes which were great. Then to Far Cry 2, which got criticism, but I thought it was visually stunning, and the gameplay wasn't half bad too. Bought GTA 4, but haven't played it yet, since it's been all about Left 4 Dead. If anyone has that for PC, add me to your Steam list and we'll get a Zombie killing spree in.

Shaun White boarding for Wii is great. I have the FIT board and it ends up being quite a workout.

I was obsessed with my original X-Box when first released. It then died off. Now WII has brought me back into things. The interaction is a lot more attractive to me as I used to get awfully bored just sitting on the couch with a controller.
