How are these only $400? I guess I don’t know anything about full size arcade games anymore. - JP

They’re not full size. They’re about 3/4 scale size, I think. The full-size cabinets are about 6 feet tall. These cabinets are about 4 feet tall by itself, 5 feet with risers.

In addition to the smaller size, the reason why they are $400 is because they are cheaply made. They definitely don’t have the high quality components that the ones in arcades have. Also, these are decades old games, so I don’t think the licensing fees are all that high.

I received the latest Spiderman and MK II as birthday presents.
Here goes my freetime.

Spiderman is amazing. The gameplay is very close to Batman Arkam serie games.

I’m not enthused by games with small scale statues as part of Collector’s Edition, but I might have to consider this one for next year’s Marvel’s Avengers game. Not because the statue is nice or anything, but because of the game and franchise:

The PS5 dev kit turned out to be real. Usually the first dev kits that are given to developers prior to a system’s release are simple functional blocks of metal/plastic rather than what we see on the end product, but this one has some artistic/complicated design elements. It makes me think the PS5 will have at least some retained design cues when it’s revealed next year. Seems unlikely but we’ll see:

If the final product ended up looking like that I’d buy it instead of an Xbox next gen

Arcade 1up is releasing more 3/4 scale arcade machines this year that includes Marvel vs. Capcom and X-Men vs. Street Fighter. It looks like they’ll be milking the Marvel vs. series for a bit. They know everyone is waiting for Marvel vs. Capcom 2, which is why it’s looking to come out as a separate release rather than the upcoming one. Still, these arcade machines are great for display and nostalgia (even if not a value-for-your-money purchase).

They are also releasing a sit-down/pod-like version of the Star Wars game. How cool:

Did they ever make one for the Simpson's beat-em-up or the one based on the Pryde of the X-Men cast.

Not yet, though those games (along with Marvel vs. Capcom 2) are the most in-demand games, since they're 4+ player games. It'd be astonishing if Arcade 1up made a 6-player cabinet for Pryde of X-Men; I find the current cabinets too small to play with multiple players.

Personally I wouldn't mind a T2 shooter arcade cabinet, but it'll be difficult finding space for all this extra stuff:

I love their cabinets and enjoy the one I have, but I forgot to mention the most annoying thing about Arcade 1up machines to potential buyers: variants. Goddamn variants.

Arcade 1up tends to put out cabinets for various retailers and have different features than the standard version. You don't always know if you're buying the best version and don't know when they'll be releasing a cooler cabinet later on.

Case in point, Marvel Super Heroes.

The regular version:
https://arcade1up.com/products/marvel-super-heroes-arcade-cabinet

-Standard cabinet with blue trim

The Special Edition:
https://arcade1up.com/products/marvel-cabinet

Differences from the regular version:
-Yellow trim
-Includes light up marquee
-Upgraded with Sanwa joysticks and buttons
-Limited to 8,000
-Certificate of authenticity included with number out of 8,000
-Duel speakers
-Exclusive riser artwork

The HSN version:
https://www.hsn.com/products/arcade1up-marvel-full-size-5-ft-arcade-machine-and-rise/9327003

-Similar cabinet to the regular version with blue trim....
-But has light up marquee....
-And light up buttons, which isn't included in any other version
-Though not limited like the Special Edition, chances are there's less of the HSN version out there

In a similar fashion, there is a regular version of Mortal Kombat and one released with Costco with a light up marquee (and I think a stool comes in the package).

So they kept the "touchpad" thing... I still have to see a game using this feature with any interest.

I can’t decide if the upcoming KFC game console that keeps your fried chicken warm is real or if a very early April Fool’s Day joke:
