I would like to know if this is an authentic release or if it was a studio giveaway. Either way this would make a real nice pair of gascans.

Here's another cool one from eBay, so pic credit goes to the seller. I'm sure most of you have seen it since it was a high profile auction. I thought about bidding on it, but the lack of a logo gave me pause. It ended up with no bidders (first bid would have been $999). Might have sold offline.

Anyway, the Gold Vault:

I think the plate was left blank so it could be engraved. I feel like those were one of those gifts to athletes for winning gold.

Crazy to see that on eBay. I think that is the O5 set they were giving to long time employees as an award for displaying the O5 on a regular basis.

Surprised to see the Oakley 5 "Teachers Edition" show up on Ebay. Rare indeed. There were few of those sets created and were only given to Oakley employees identified as being Oakley 5 Ambassadors and teachers. Each book when into deeper detail as to how to teach and apply Oakley's 5 Values to other employees.

The Gold 5 Coin represented the best internal brand ambassadors (teachers). You could only get the gold coin when picked as an ambassador and was presented with the teachers editions.

The Oakley 5 was very special in refreshing exactly what the brand stood for. It was especially created to teach newer employees to the principles that Oakley was built on. After the Lux acquisition it was very important that we did it. The 5 influenced so much, but unfortunately I don't feel it is reflected upon enough these days.

For Dann,I do have digital assets of the Oakley 5 that I can share. They are big PDF files so not sure how or where to post.

I posted this about 10 years back. Someone on the film crew of one of the Star Trek films was selling a helmet that was screen used. The interesting thing of course was that he said the lens is made by Oakley, and the sticker on then back was an interesting touch (as is the old school earbud case used for the ear piece):
