Are Timebombs automatic watches? I.e they do not use a battery to run?

Yup, it's automatic, driven by O's World Movement -

Each turn of the wrist becomes a flow of electrons, funneled through microcircuitry to drive the hands of time with an intuitive analog design.

Why Tim, that was downright poetic! You should be a writer for a company or something... ;^)

It's a hybrid of both. It's not solely one or the other.

I love "intuitive analog design". It's basically Oakleyspeak for "we were too lazy to put numbers on the damn face". Heh.

Other companies call this type of movemnet "KINETIC"

As in Kinetic Energy. Power created by movemnet. (I Think)

I have another question about the Timebomb which has probobly already been asked before. I bought a brand new Timebomb about two months ago, and I put a scratch on the face already. Can I send it into Oakley under warnanty, do I have to pay to get it fixed even if it is still under warranty, or is there no solution for a scratched face?

$45 I think. call the C.S. Warranty doesn't cover any scratches

hmm... my Timebomb have not gotten any scratches on the crystal, but there's really deep and noticable scuff marks on three of the links. :( the X-Metal titanium finish are really easily scuffed, so be careful.

Believe me, my Timebomb has plenty of scuffs on it already, I think it is from having my wrists on a desk while at work. Like you said Bong, the Titanium finish scuffs way too easily, but it dosnt bother me near as much as the scratched crystal. Thanks for the info Cal.

yeah... that's exactly how mine got scuffed, from having my wrists on the desk.
sorry about the crustal dude, hopefully you'll be able to get it replaced. for a $1500 watch, they should've used a better/harder crystal.

The Timebomb could have been better. Scuff on the band and scratch on the crystal. Someone suggested of getting the polished band, that way it hides the marks and can be repolished.

Thanks Bong, Oakley is prety good about repairing/replacing stuff that needs it so I'm not worried. I thought about polished, but there is something about posished that just dosnt appeal to me, i think its that it looks cheaper than titanium. I am bias though, I really like the dark titanium/X metal look.

Doesn't the Timebomb have the same sapphire crystal as the GMT/Blade/Judge?

It's damn near impossible to scratch.

I thought I heard the Timebomb had a glass crystal. I found it surprising watches still came with glass crystals.

I've been suprised to hear of people scratching the crystal on the Timebomb....I've had mine for years and put it through hell - no scratches....I really thought they were pretty tough....could it be a generation thing?

My band is scuffed pretty good but that is common with that type of finish....I still like the gunmetal look better than polished - more rugged/industrial looking....

Mines scuffed on the band and has a scratch on the crystal, oakley uk said £50.00 to replace it, so $45.00 is a snip...

No Sapphire on the Time Bomb, that came out later. It's HardEx mineral crystal, and mine is way overdue for a new crystal, but I'm waiting until I get a new watch so I can fix this one up and just display it.

HardEx- when it absolutely, positively has to scratch overnight.

It’s disappointing that Oakley’s Flagship watch has a cheaper crystal. Well at least I didn’t drop a Grand and a half on it. Aside from the flaws that the Timebomb has, it is still, in my opinion, the best watch aesthetically, as well as mechanically, that Oakley makes.

Because of the curvature of the face of the timebomb a saphire crystal would skew the optics you would have a 1500 bracelet

Saphire won't skew the "optics" any more than mineral glass would in this instance. I mean, if something like the Corum Bubble (one of the ugliest and coolest watches of all time IMO) could get a saphire crystal, the Timebomb could too.
