Hi there guys. Anyone tried if third party coaching/fitness app works on the radarpace? Saw in OF that using BTMONO helped play music in the radarpace.

Planning to buy and try since price is just about $100.

Cheers!

...and a corollary to that, is BTMONO mono only?

Yep it is MONO only. Was able to use the radarpace app with the BTmOno. Not the best sound quality but at least it worked. Not interactive like the ad but voice coach is there. Not bad considering the price i paid.

I know Oakley still does impact and optical quality tests for demonstration purposes, but do they still do them against competitors? If so, who are the competitors they've chosen?

I know Oakley's patents started expiring back in 2011 and other companies started incorporating it into their lenses, but I was wondering who Oakley chose to compare their lenses to nowadays so the tests appear favourable.

Can anyone tell me the difference between a Double Wide 3.0 and Double Wide 3.1 case? From the pictures in the database it looks like the 3.1 might be a bit taller? I picked this up yesterday and I cant tell which it is.

I believe it has to do with the type of lighting in it but I could be wrong.

Ok so one would be led and the other would be florescent? I think ive seen 3rd gen cases with led's before but im not sure. This one is florescent.

I think Greg's right. The 3.0 should have florescent lights for the down lights (covered by a white acrylic cover). The 3.1s are with the MR-16 halogen lights for the down lights. Or the opposite. I can’t remember.

Does anyone know if Oakley still accepts the old gift cards? I don't see an option to pay with giftcards on Oakley.com and Oakley.com/giftcards no longer exists.

You could try redeeming in-store. In CA, they passed a law removing expiration dates on Gift cards and if the balance falls below $10, the store is legally obligated to cash it out if you so choose.

It's an American gift card, so no use here in Canada. I think I loaded $150 many years back just to get the "Fuel Cell Puzzle" gift box thing, fully realizing that I may never get a chance to use it at a US store. But I recently re-discovered it in my stash and thought if I could use it on Oakley.com, I would buy a US friend a MSK3 as a surprise. It seems it might not be usable online any longer. Oh well. It's the thought that counts, I suppose.

Did you try this number to check the balance?
(888) 568-1694 Gift Card Balance

At least you will know how much is on it. Maybe sell it to someone in the US?

What are the differences of the various FMJs? I get it for FMJ "some_color", but what's FMJ vs. FMJ+ vs. FMJ 5.56 vs. 7.62...

Most are silvers or greys, so the color designation doesn't make as much sense. 5.56 is very shiny and silvery. + is more matte. One of them is a dark grey. I wish I had real life examples of them to do side-by-side photos, but the age of everything now makes it tough to acquire.

Like most Oakley marketing terms, it's meant to both delight and confuse you. The FMJ variations are obviously different colours, but the numbers don't seem to correspond to anything. As Dann mentioned, and to my eyes, FMJ+ seems to be more a satin silver, 5.56 is more of a flat metallic-like white, 45mm is more dark gunmetal, 7.62 is a polished grey, 9mm is like a mix between satin white and grey, etc.

In Japan, where I live, I have little knowledge about guns because possession of guns is prohibited by law. So I knew only the movie title when FMJ was first released. I was a young man who loved oakley, so I was absorbed in researching the meaning. And the Web didn't exist there. After a lot of hard work, I learned that FMJ and 5.56, 7.62, 9mm are the types of bullets. I remember being very excited. But it didn't match the color.

Ran across this while looking something up. Was this actually a legit Oakley release because I didn't see anything in the database that look like it

(By the way its from 2011, just wondering about the authenticity)

I think I have one of each across different models. If I can remember I will try to do a comparison.

I have some and tried to get a decent comparison for this thread... just took me a few weeks to get around to it! I believe these are 5.56, 7.62, copper, and the OTTs are FMJ+. I'm not certain enough to bet the farm on it though.

The are named after rounds of ammunition. 5.56 is a standard AR platform rifle round and the 7.62 is the standard round for the AK platform.
